CHILDRENS COMPETITION! (UP TO 16 YEAR OLDS)
A regional Childrens Competition takes place on Saturday 17 November 2007. Competition events will start promptly at 14.30, and competitors are asked please to get there on time.
The venue is Greenwood Park Leisure Centre, 37 Tippendell Lane, St Albans AL2 3HW.
If you wish to participate in the Competition, complete the attached entry form and return it to Sensei Stuart Vousden by no later than Sunday 4 November.
Competition outline:
Individual Kata
Three groups: up to 7th Kyu, 6th Kyu to 4th Kyu, 3rd Kyu and above
Note: (1) all competitors MUST KNOW their Kata (and be able to perform the Kata without count); (2) for Competitors up to 4th Kyu, Katas will be based on a competitor's most recent grading Kata or a previous Kata; (3) for 3rd Kyus and above, it will be your Toki Kata, or Bassai Dai
Team Kata
Each team will consist of 3 Karateka. There will be two groups: group 1 up to 4th Kyu, group 2 3rd Kyu and above.
Note: (1) all Katas to be judged on a points system - highest score wins; (2) in the event of a draw in group 1 (up to 4th Kyu) a second Heian Kata (at judges' discretion) will be performed; (3) in group 2 (3rd Kyu and above) a second Toki Kata will be performed.
Kumite
Based on grading Kumite. There will be three groups: up to 7th Kyu, 6th Kyu to 4th Kyu, 3rd Kyu and above.
Judging will be decided on a points system.
Bo
Groups to be decided by height/weight.
Judging by Referee and corner judges.
Note no head contact.
