25 Nov 2006 - Ges takes Shodan! St Albans and Harpenden grading results CLICK FOR MORE

The St Albans and Harpenden teams held their first joint grading on Wednesday 22 November, with Sensei Paul Perry, 8th Dan and Chief Instructor JSK, presiding. A stellar performance from Ges Ruane, taking Shodan, was the evening's highlight. A somewhat pale new Black Belt got back his colour as everyone, including Sensei Perry, settled down in the local curry house for a meal to celebrate Ges's success!

Happily, all the Kyu grade students successfuly passed their grading examinations the same evening. Of particular note were the impressive performances from Matty Norton and Matthew Harrison who put their respective Dads (David and Jon, who were also grading) under some pressure!
And a post grading surprise was in store for people at the curry house, with the launch by Sensei Darren of his unique, patented, Jin Sei Kai protective gumshield. Sporting new gumshields (see picture), the Club's reporter, Samantha, sought out Darren for a quote. Sadly, however, those present could not make head nor tail of our intrepid reporter's undoubtedly brilliant question and Darren's no doubt searingly witty response.
